However, as the title of this blog suggests, this was not the case of an alternative recipe I decided to try. My friends were coming over for a BBQ,(on the WORST day of weather in half term-typical) and one doesn't eat milk chocolate, she's weird ok, so I thought..
"Oh hey Blondies will be ideal, this recipe seems legit"
I used a recipe from Stork, the baking spread company, thinking it would be perfectly adequate.
| This was my expectation of the finished product |
There is no photographic evidence of what mine looked like, it was too shameful, but I refuse to believe mine were crap purely due to me. Usually I use self-raising flour, yet this recipe instructed plain flour, a key flaw in the lack of oomph these Blondies had. White chocolate is notoriously hard to bake with anyway, something I quickly found out when it refused to melt with the butter.
I like quick and 'one bowl' type recipes, Mary Berry Chocolate Brownies, whereas this one needed multiple bowls/pans/even more bowls, and me and washing up are not the firmest of friends.
On the bright side, my (weird) friend was the only one that actually enjoyed them and voluntarily ate more than one so I guess all's well that ends well. Also, I got to try out my new beautiful scales, a complete bargain from Dunelm(my heaven) AND they're red!!!!
| Just me that likes looking at cooking implements? Probably.. |
Haha that bad? At least now you know what went wrong and can try it again!

Yep! I was so embarrassed by them haha. We threw out the recipe but I'm on the hunt for a better one!
DeleteThey LOOK good, it's a shame they didn't taste it. I'm totally a one-bowl kinda girl too. Saves on washing up. That said, I'm rubbish at baking anyway!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogging world by the way, I hope you enjoy being part of it :)
Hope to speak soon,

Trust me, mine did not look like that, the white chocolate on top burnt and looked like raisins!
DeleteAw thank you:-)x
I often find blondies/brownies hard to bake. I've used the following the recipe for blondies quite a few times and it has always worked, usually I substitute the macadamia nuts for ground almonds: http://www.bakingmad.com/recipes/tray-bakes/blondies. BBC Good Food also has a great white choc raspberry blondie recipe.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy blogging :)
I sometimes struggle with traybakes but this recipe looks lovely and definitely one to try! xx
