Catastrophic White Chocolate Brownies

I'm not usually one to blow my own trumpet, but my Chocolate Brownies are usually pretty terrific... (if my sister eating 8 in one day is anything to go by)
However, as the title of this blog suggests, this was not the case of an alternative recipe I decided to try. My friends were coming over for a BBQ,(on the WORST day of weather in half term-typical) and one doesn't eat milk chocolate, she's weird ok, so I thought..
"Oh hey Blondies will be ideal, this recipe seems legit"
I used a recipe from Stork, the baking spread company, thinking it would be perfectly adequate.
White Chocolate and Raspberry Brownies (Blondies)
This was my expectation of the finished product

There is no photographic evidence of what mine looked like, it was too shameful, but I refuse to believe mine were crap purely due to me. Usually I use self-raising flour, yet this recipe instructed plain flour, a key flaw in the lack of oomph these Blondies had. White chocolate is notoriously hard to bake with anyway, something I quickly found out when it refused to melt with the butter.
I like quick and 'one bowl' type recipes, Mary Berry Chocolate Brownies, whereas this one needed multiple bowls/pans/even more bowls, and me and washing up are not the firmest of friends.

On the bright side, my (weird) friend was the only one that actually enjoyed them and voluntarily ate more than one so I guess all's well that ends well. Also, I got to try out my new beautiful scales, a complete bargain from Dunelm(my heaven) AND they're red!!!!
Just me that likes looking at cooking implements? Probably..
Thanks for reading! This is my first post so I promise it will get better (I hope)...
